3 SPICES OF MILTON KEYNES PARK: THE LAKE, THE MEDICINE WHEEL AND THE PAGODA

Back then, I had thought that MK Dons FC was all there was to Milton Keynes, when the club humbled my own heroes, Manchester United, by a whopping four-goal margin. Well, that opinion completely changed when I was invited on a trip to the northernmost district of South East England. Yes, I was invited to the iconic Milton Keynes Park. Oh my! May I say this is one place that will truly take your breath away.

Now, there are far too many sights to share with you about the park without writing a book. Nevertheless, three extremely captivating titbits will be explored here. To kick off this impressive list is Willen Lake, covering 40 hectares. Popularly renowned for its Treetop Extreme, a high rope adventure course, you climb a 10-metre wall and enjoy a thrilling cum adventurous experience. Willen Lake is a huge body of water, the largest purpose-built lake in Britain. It has two basins, one to the north for wildlife, with an island for nesting birds, whilst the south attracts flocking birds and all the water sports you can imagine. Rest assured, all types of flora, fauna and animal species can be viewed at this lake. But the gripping number of bird species conveys the coolest ecstasy. Oh, and fishing is allowed. Don’t doubt that.

Half times treats include the magnificent spectacle of the Medicine Wheel, also known as the 'Circle of Hearts Medicine Wheel.' It takes the shape of a North American wheel which symbolizes peace. This exciting collection of 108 limestone rocks from the village of Weston Underwood, is set on ‘sacred’ Green Space in Willen North Park. Yes, I can continue trying to paint this idyllic view, however, you'll be more inspired to take a look for yourself when I tell you it is open to individuals and groups for celebrations, meditation, and prayer. In these times, meditation is a vital way to purify the mind and remain positive.

Post-match celebrations may involve the Pagoda. This is the first of its type to be constructed in the Western hemisphere. Described by my fellow explorer as his favourite spiritual place, it has a thousand cherry trees and cedars planted on and around the hill, your taste buds will be dripping with the view and your soul will flood with joy.

There are only a few pictures I can paint with my pen, mind and imagination. Much more will be revealed with your own eyes to truly describe this incredible spectacle. Take a trip to 1300 Silbury Boulevard, Campbell Park, Milton Keynes, MK9 4AD. Visit the park’s website or follow their blog by clicking on the links below. Don’t wait any longer. Find a way to visit Milton Keynes Park and thank me later for an incredible experience.
