How was your Halloween? Let me guess! It involved endless hours trying to look scarier than you really are and amassing candy wealth… social distance compliant…right? And what is Halloween without the beloved pumpkin? So, I expect, you at least played the infamous pumpkin toss game. For me, without saying, 2020 has already been a weird year to say the least, but my friends and I were determined to embrace it with as much fun as we could possibly get.
After endless searching for a venue to spend our day, in anticipation of the ghoulish escapades to follow as the full moon of night beckoned, we finally chose the Patch MK. My friends, Axton and Marian were as eager about the adventure ahead as I was. So, we set out as early as possible, to exploit to the full all the time that the day ahead could offer.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the ghostly signs and warnings that only Halloween can display. The offerings included pumpkins, lanterns and the costume den. We all had our bodies painted to match our devilish costumes. As soon as we were done, we immediately jumped at the chance of inviting a photographer to cruise around the pumpkin patch with us and continue to take as many stills and insta shots as was inhumanly possible.
The controlled number of visitors paled into significance compared to the army of pumpkins that engulfed the scene. Pumpkins doubling the number of visitors is part of Patch MK's magical promises. And I must say, they made good on all their promise. The Halloween set up was mind-blowing. It was spellbinding and is etched forever in my memory.
As we lurked, zombie like (obviously) from the compelling Patch MK, we crawled our way to the viewing platform. From here, we snaked our way through the trails of the 5 acres of sunflowers. My musings of the day would not be complete without particular praise of the maze game and the heavy wheels truck. However, the most amusing part was clambering up and cascading down the bale mountains. I only went up and down like 20 times before I was exhausted. while Cristiano and Marcin could only manage 18. Piotr managed 30 and he hasn’t really been the same since!
Our seemingly endless energy expended by walking the bale maze was only matched by a longing for food (vegetarian options available, I promise) The Patch was more than prepared for us. They presented us with ice cream, baked bread, ham steaks, apple pie, fruits, BBQ, and soft drink. I must confess to eating too much and it took a while before I could stand up from where we sat. Perhaps it was because we were spent cruising around the pumpkin patch. That’s my excuse anyway and I will stick to it.
Some devilish entity from the Patch’s depths of darkness must have cast a spell that has bounded my fantasy to these memories. Indeed, it was a Halloween Funday to remember for eternity, and beyond, for us all.
