BEDFORD ITALIAN FESTIVAL IS BACK WITH A BANG!

If you have Italian heritage and you are in the UK, there is every chance you will find a home in Bedford. The reasons are simples, considering the town was nicknamed "Little Italy" in the 50s' and the wild celebrations breaking out when Italy won Euro 2020. The celebration was remarkable. Besides, you may also like the simplicity of the culture, the food, the music and the history. And that's what Bedford Italian Festival 2023 was all about.

The festival, held on July 3rd in Bedford town centre, aimed to celebrate, and connect people with the glamour of Italian culture. Hence, it’s one of the most looked-forward-to events in the region. The festival was organized by Carmela Martello, a Personal Achievement tutor in Art & Design at Bedford College. And it’s supported by SpectaculARTs, an organization devoted to heralding a broader understanding of diversity throughout Bedford. The leading dignitaries were Carmela and Bedford College governor Sharon De Leonardis.

If you like, you could call the Bedford Italian festival a synonym for ‘loads of fun.’ First, Italian delicacies were available from several Italian restaurants to whet your taste buds. Elisha Cuthbert has opined there’s nothing more romantic than Italian food. Second, you also enjoyed the opportunity to undergo an immersive Italian musical experience through the melody that filled the air. It’s always a pleasure when the music gets people singing and dancing, even with complete strangers. Now, to cap it all up, there was the opportunity to see exquisite Italian cars. Food, music and cars, a marriage in itself. Did you know, many modern cars manufactured have a solid historical root in Italy? Undoubtedly, the event allowed you to experience diverse endearing Italian attributes, their vintage beauty and their luxurious style.

Another beautiful sight were the students themselves, who created artwork to sell at the festival. Some actively waved The Bedford College Group banner at the event. No surprise here, though. The students at Bedford College have always been at the forefront of supporting the event. They have been encouraged to get involved and support a wide range of events in the town to encourage communal joy and celebration.

Again, you can’t push aside the huge crowd the festival attracted. The fun, food, music, and glee drew a huge crowd of partygoers to the celebration. That’s not a surprise. Before 2020, the Italian festival had enjoyed an elevated level of anticipation, but due to the restrictions brought about by the pandemic, like so many iconic events, the festival was temporarily halted. So, this year's celebration was a much-needed sign of renewal; for a fresh comeback after four years.

Your guess is correct if you thought the expectations and outcome were off the roof. A time and experience to cherish and enjoy. Simply brilliant!
