CALDECOTTE LAKE: YOUR CHOICE OUTDOOR DINING SPOT

There aren’t many choice outdoor dining spots around with spectacular lake views, where you can enjoy that cherished time with your loved ones. Thus, when you come across one, take it seriously, don’t let it escape. With Milton Keynes home to a myriad of lakes gifting walking and running space, there is a particular destination that provides so much more. I present to you Caldecotte Lake. It winds its merry way just off H10 Bletcham Way, between V10 Brickhill Street and the A5. Just peer out of the window for the distinctive windmill, it is easily seen from the road.

Now, wait a minute. Let’s explore the beauty and delights Caldecotte Lake has to offer.

One delightful present you should know that Caldecotte Lake offers you and your family is a wide range of hidden dens, open spaces and sumptuous resting points to enjoy your meals. Such enjoyment can be discovered under the sailing windmill at the lake, or at the remarkable family dining pub; the Caldecotte Arms. There is also a nearby Premier Inn, where you can unwind and glory in the impressive lakeside views.

Caldecotte Lake offers its visitors countless sporting and fitness activities. For example, table tennis and the Trim Trail (to shake off the excess pounds that lockdown has left you burdened with!) located near the Caldecotte Business Park. There is also boating for both experienced rowers and novices taking sailing lessons. However, you need to be a member of the Watersports Clubs or affiliated with a licensed event.

Now, if you are an angler, Caldecotte is a treasure trove, with a mile-long fishing bank. The lake is brimming with roach, bream, pike, and trench and you will need to get your day’s fishing ticket from the Milton Keynes Angling Association. Ready to cast?

Hey, your kids are not left out of the fun that this lake offers. They can burn off some steam in the colourful outdoor play area. Also, they can take on the challenge of the climbing frames, defeat the obstacles that the nest swings offer, revel in the revolving roundabout and experience swing rockers as you have never seen them before. Along the lakeside path is the hugely popular Caldecotte Lake train. This opens on Sundays from April to October, as well as bank holidays and special events.

Speaking of special days, regattas and family fun days are often held at Caldecotte Lake. Remember them? You will soon.

There is definitely more to Caldecotte Lake than its exhilarating water sports facilities and gorgeous expanse of land. The park also features wildlife such as water birds, waterfowl and damselflies. Interestingly, there is a massive skeleton of a dinosaur, Ichthyosaur, thought to be 150 million years old. You just might want to see that. It’s worth it!

Whether you are going alone, with friends or with your family, Caldecotte Lake has more than enough to share with you all, help you to relax, guarantee you have fun and quite simply ensure you relish the times you can be outside with nature once again.
