DUDLEY ZOO & CASTLE: EXPLORING OUR NATURE AND HISTORY

The importance and safety of zoos cannot be overemphasized in a world that increasingly spells danger for diverse animals in the wild. They offer effective conservation habitats for different species and also facilitate the preservation and repopulation of our friends at risk of extinction, whilst also satisfying their recreation needs. Speaking of recreation, Dudley Zoo & Castle is an excellent facility that enjoys massive patronage from visitors far and near.

Dudley Zoo & Castle, opened May 1937, was initially castle grounds before it was converted into a zoological oasis. The third Earl of Dudley initiated this idea and since then, DZC has served as a home to thousands of exotic and endangered animals. The facility spreads across an area of approximately 40 acres. It may also interest you to know that the zoo contains the world’s largest single collection of Modernist Tecton structures (the country’s only vintage chairlift). This confirms that DZC is unique in its own right and definitely much more than a zoo.

Dudley Zoo & Castle is certainly distinct from other similar escapades you may have visited. It houses more than 1300 animals, with 200 different species, including some of the rarest creatures on earth such as yellow-breasted capuchins and Colombian black spider monkeys. DZC was founded on the basis that it would offer visitors the opportunity to cherish a closer glimpse of rarely seen wonders of nature. And this they achieve through quality education and entrenched conservation activities and commitment.

Now, DZC does not only attract visitors because of the zoo. It serves as a perfect place for your personal and corporate events. The zoo and castle also houses a wide range of facilities such as meeting rooms, marquee, etc. These facilities are perfect settings for your events which may include:

- Wedding receptions

- Corporate dinners

- Family fun days

- Exhibitions

- Product launches

- Summer BBQs

As part of DZC's commitment to educating her visitors, there is an offer for a wide range of educational sessions for all ages. These sessions include:

- Animal Creature Features

- ‘Down On the Farm’ sessions for EYFS

- Learn about Habitats & Adaptations, Ice Worlds & Life Cycles

- ‘Horrible History’, Castle & Ghost Tours

- Tecton Trail and Tour.

DZC also allows visitors to enjoy the open-air cinema nights, with popular trending movies. This shows that DZC is a whole course meal to enjoy. Don’t miss out on the carnival of fun that awaits you and your loved ones as you behold the beauty of nature and bathe in historical splendour!
