Any one thing that happens to us all may never happen again. But everything that happens twice will surely happen a third time. Those are Coelho's words. And I believe it rings true.
Hello there! Here I am in Cambridge – on a trip to this beautiful city in England. Yes, I am standing in the midst of the eminent Milton Country Park. Let me guess the question you are asking: “Is it a delight to behold?” Well, I must say, delight is an understatement. Milton Country Park is not only a splendid recreation centre, but also the ideal spot for your own personal escape. Follow me closely as I take you through the wonders you are about to experience on our journey.
MCP sits on a breath-taking 95-acre terrain, formerly an arable and pasture farmland. One spectacle you cannot fail to notice is the park’s famous 2-mile meandering pathway. This amble offers a peaceful, tranquil and uplifting experience, with your dog, bicycle or even wheelchair. It also has two engaging interactive playgrounds for children. They might not be the biggest playgrounds around, but they definitely have all the nooks and crannies your kids need to climb, slide, run and hide.
Wow! There are lakes! Yes, ones where you are allowed to fish! Under-16s can only join in if an adult is present. You must have an authorised ticket and license in hand, as well as your tackle. However, swimming is not permitted, the lakes being deep water bodies. Milton Country Park take precautionary measures to always ensure your safety, though if you fancy a swim, there are organized sessions by the park. Contact them before you try to dig out your trunks or bikini in the bottom drawer!
Now, a lot can be said about the array of plants and animals that beautify this park. I really do need to highlight the blackberry, hawthorn and blackthorn trees; stunning flowers; kingfishers; dragonflies; newts; birds; butterflies; roe deer and barn owls to name but a few. There’s also a Visitors’ Centre with Cafe, car park and theatre, with multiple viewing platforms.
As an additional temptation, MCP also charters out rooms for events such as conferences, meetings, and parties. Their opening times range from 8:00-9:00am, while they close between 4:00-5:00 pm, depending on the season. Don’t you dare think this is just a summer adventure, winter offers its own rare gifts to enjoy. MCP is readily accessible, just north of Cambridge (Cambridge Road, Milton, Cambridgeshire).
Hey, please don't just take my word for it. Here is a comment from Elizabeth Forbes on Milton Country Park Facebook page:
“Every time I come here; I love it a bit more. It's perfect for letting kids run around a bit and explore nature but has a great cafe and a baby change. Good coffee. Kids make their own fun outdoors. And I saw a kingfisher today. Amazing!!
