"Where there is no light there is no beauty." And because of this, I will be shining my spotlight on a location that harbors some of these illuminating beauties. Let's start with Welwyn Garden City. This town is located in Hertfordshire, England. Welwyn was actually only the second garden city in England did you know? Its origins date back to 1920. The dignifying appeal from a garden city such as Welwyn is that it was designed to be “The Perfect Town.” A demanding reputation to live up to!
When you ponder on a perfect town, you may demand combinations of the various benefits of both city and countryside. Not just that, such towns were designed to avoid the disadvantages of both. At the heart of the fun and merriment of this majestic city is Halden’s Park.
Halden’s Park enjoyed a recent injection of £100,000 into furnishing the Welwyn Garden City play area. This mouthwatering renovation to the enclosed play area features various new equipment ideal for post lockdown frivolity. It was officially commissioned by Cllr Roger Trigg in the summer of 2018, who himself had a go on the zip line at the official opening. (I’m sure these hilarious images are available to view online).
The reconstruction of the park was highly influenced by nearby residents. Upon responding to their feedback, walking, cycling and running routes were implemented in and around Halden’s Park. Alongside the multipurpose routes for residents, the play area was upgraded to maximise fun for children of all ages.
For the comfort of kids, there are a variety of swings for juniors and toddlers. Hence, they can avoid tearful exits from an oversized swing or sitting like a squeezed lemon on small ones. Your kids can also ride on the three spring animals at the park or walk, with creased brows and great concentration, over the balancing beam. There is also a ball wall where your children can bounce their ball and attempt to catch it. The challenge is on!
No one wants their children wandering around in the sun. At Halden’s play area, your children are well catered for. The park has a teenage shelter that gives your kids the homely feel of the warm shadows, avoiding direct contact from the sun. They can also ascend…and descend the climbing frame with a slide and explore the climbing track at their leisure.
Well, teens, parents and older adults are certainly not forgotten. The playground facility also includes a public open space that has a basketball court and football facilities. Nestled here, there is also a bench for spectators and those over enthusiastic dads “REFEREE!”, or for those who want to catch their breath during their visit.
The park is situated at Welwyn Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England, United Kingdom AL7 1SE.
Halden’s Park promises excitement-a-plenty for every child and parent and guarantees the exercise and relaxation we all need right now. Enjoy yourselves.
