THE NATIONAL TRUST’S SHARPENHOE CLAPPERS.

Updated: Jul 31, 2020

The ability to explore life and its options is what makes our existence mysterious, beautiful and enjoyable. As the popular saying goes: “Variety is the spice of life”. You can certainly spice up the quality of your life by exploring many intriguing places. This will help you appreciate the world and see things differently. Now that you are aware of the benefits of exploring new adventures, I have just one of the loveliest places for you to visit, The National Trust’s Sharpenhoe.

The houses, gardens, parklands and woodlands are owned and managed by the National Trust. The monument within the grounds is recognized throughout our nation and it is protected as a scheduled artifact. You can book in advance to enjoy those long lost but not forgotten moments of leisure alone or with your loved ones. Sharpenhoe has a fascinating historical iron age hill fort, located to the south of the Smithcombe valley. This idyllic location is situated right at the foot of the Sharpenhoe itself, close to the Clappers, a hill on the northern Chilterns of Southern Bedfordshire. The Clappers is also embellished with chalk grasslands, shrouded with stunning wildflowers that attract a huge variety of fluttering butterflies and birds. Many have attested that it is just the ideal spot to take a walk – be it a stroll or an invigorating trail through nature’s offering.

At the National Trust Sharpenhoe, you will have the opportunity to view and admire breathtaking orchids and primroses in scrub areas. At the east side of the site, you can admire the remarkable Barton Hills Natural Reserve. Here, you can feast your eyes on flora and fauna rarely seen in the UK. You will be fascinated by the sight of several species of birds that immediately capture your creative imagination.

Again, there are hilly woodlands, which provide access for joggers and cyclists alike. Dogs are also allowed, but make sure they are well supervised. Sharpenhoe is one of the greatest marvels that I really urge you to explore. You are definitely going to learn so much on your visit, whilst thoroughly enjoying yourself. You don't even have to worry about time. Forget your worries! They are open all day long.

Now, don’t sweat. There are ample parking places and lo and behold it is free! A rare treat to enjoy. To nourish your stomach with a delectable meal, you can visit the Chequers at the end of the Sharpenhoe Road. Guaranteed satisfaction.

The National Trust’s Sharpenhoe is located at 351 Sharpenhoe Road, Sharpenhoe, Bedford, MK45 4SH. A treat to relish.
